On September 27, 2010 Nissan and the city of Toronto have teamed up and signed an agreement in efforts to make Toronto an emissions free city. With the new knowledge and awareness of how Green House gases truly effect the environment Nissan is trying to reduce overall pollution especially in large cities such as Toronto. This is an initiative to promote and encourage people to buy electric cars to help save the environment.
The entire city of Toronto will need to be revamped to meet the needs of the electric cars. There will need to be charging units around the city instead of gas stations for cars such as the affordable Nissan Leaf, to recharge.
“Nissan is a global leader in electric vehicles and today the City of Toronto has shown its leadership and commitment to create a zero-emission culture in this great city,” Allen Childs, President, Nissan Canada Inc. explains. “Through this agreement, our partners at the City of Toronto have further demonstrated their commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We look forward to bringing the Nissan LEAF, the first affordable, mass market zero-emission vehicle to Toronto consumers before the end of next year.”
To help promote the sale of the Nissan Leaf, Toronto is developing regulatory programs and bylaw changes to fit the needs of the electric cars. Also the Nissan Leaf will be available within the city of Toronto to purchase.
Eventually Nissan hopes to see all major cities around the world go Green and join the Renault-Nissan Alliance to help preserve the environment instead of destroying it with toxic emissions. So far the Leaf has been the only affordable, mass-produced, totally emissions free, electric car, making truly the car of the future.
The Nissan-Renault Alliance has united with 60 governments, cities and other organizations to promote emissions free electric cars as a way to save the environment.
Don’t get left behind. Go Green and head down to Pohanka Nissan to check out the Leaf and learn how it saves the environment while saving you money. Also go to www.pohanka-nissan.com to get a online quote.
