Here at our Chevrolet dealership serving DC, we know that pickup truck drivers aren’t your run of the mill new vehicle shoppers. After all, driving a sedan is all about getting from point A to point B; driving a pickup is all about versatility, flexibility, capability, and attitude.
Of course, the Chevrolet Silverado is a truck that’s paid its dues time and time again over the years. Drivers know that the Silverado is as dependable as they come, which is why it’s such a popular choice for the job site and the trail alike.
Chevy recently through the Silverado into high gear, building on the production High Desert package that drivers will find available on the 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country at our DC area dealership. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Desert SEMA show truck highlights a range of custom cargo and performance options that build on the 2017 Silverado’s exquisite design.
Fashionable and functional, this show model sports a unique lockable, flexible storage system mounted above the high-strength steel roll-formed bed. With dual side storage bins and a three-part hard tonneau cover, the system gives the 2017 Silverado High Desert SEMA show truck a profile that features sail panels reminiscent of the Chevy Avalanche.
“The new High Desert package blends the capability and utility of Silverado with even greater refinement,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet truck marketing. “It’s ideal for those customers who want the security of a lockable cargo area as well as the flexibility of a pickup truck bed.”
In addition to this unique configuration, the truck also features magnetic ride control; this is a first for the Silverado nameplate. Electronically controlled shock absorbers are linked to sensors that read the road every millisecond, triggering damping changes in as few as 5 milliseconds for a supremely smooth ride.

Here at our DC area Chevrolet dealer, we’re part of a family of dealerships that has been serving the area for nearly 100 years. We’re not the only ones with an anniversary coming up, though. While the Pohanka family of dealerships will celebrate a centennial in 2019, it’s 2018 that marks 100 years of Chevy trucks!
To lead up to this great celebration, Chevy has announced the launching of the Truck Legends program. This program, unique in its aim, is designed to reward the loyalty of customers while simultaneously celebrating the longevity of Chevrolet’s famous trucks.
Truck Legends has already opened to Texas residents, and will be rolling out to the rest of the nation later this year.
Chevy knows that the relationship between a driver and their truck is unique, as truck owners tend to depend on their vehicles in a way that not just any motorist can understand. As such, the longevity of these workhorses is especially important.
To celebrate these relationships, Truck Legends will be open to owners of Chevy trucks with over 100,000 miles on the odometer, as well those who have purchased or leased more than one new Chevy truck. If you’ve owned one of these trucks before and you’re eyeing a new 2017 Chevrolet truck at our DC area dealership, this is the perfect opportunity!
Members will be able to share their stories, as well as receive specials benefits like exclusive merchandise, tickets to events, and even sneak peeks of new vehicles! As Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director, says, “We know there is a story behind every mile, every truck and every customer. The Truck Legends program is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our loyal customers, and curating some of their stories.”
To learn more about this upcoming event, as well as the latest 2017 Chevy trucks, don’t hesitate to contact Pohanka Chevrolet online or to call our team directly at (703) 968-6677 today!

Here at our DC area Chevy dealership, we have plenty of folks come to see us while looking for the perfect rough and ready pickup. Chevrolet’s legendary ½-ton truck, the Silverado, is up to just about any task you throw at it, and the 2017 model is the best yet!
Of course, a hard day’s work can leave you and your truck looking a bit worse for wear. While the Pohanka Chevrolet team can’t do much about your muddy boots, we can certainly shed some light on keeping your truck bed clean!
DC area 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 will find that the bed takes more abuse than just about any other part of the truck, but properly cleaning your truck bed on occasion will go a long way toward protecting it against premature wear and tear.
If you have a mat in your bed, take it out to clean it separately. This will allow you to clean both the bed and the mat more thoroughly. Be sure to let them dry completely before putting the mat back in.
Before you start washing the bed, it’s a good idea to sweep out any dirt and debris. Dirt will just turn to mud when you spray the hose on it, and debris like leaves and pebbles will block your bed’s drainage holes and need to be fished out, anyway. Sweeping first will streamline the process.
Once the big debris has been removed, you can hose things down and hit them with soapy water the way you would with the rest of your truck. If you have a spray-in or roll-on bed liner, you can go ahead and take a scrub brush to things for a thorough cleaning. If your bed is the original paint, we suggest cleaning it the same way you would clean the exterior, including a coat of protective wax when you’re done.
The experts at our detailing center can handle the entire process for you, too, if you’d rather kick back and relax when the workday is done. From the cabin to the exterior to the bed of your truck, we’ll always leave your vehicle looking great!
