As automobiles have continued to progress and evolve, so have our expectations of them. When it comes to finding true excitement on the road, a lackluster engine simply isn’t going to cut it.
For some drivers, this means breaking the bank to buy a sports car that’s only good for flying from 0-60 and doesn’t put much credence in the importance of comfort. Fortunately, our Maryland Hyundai dealership thinks you should be able to find the power you crave along with the comfort you deserve – all without spending more than you have to!
The team at AutoGuide.com recently compiled a list of the Top 10 Cheapest Cars With 400 Horsepower, and we were thrilled to see the iconic Hyundai badging turn up on the list.
When it comes to an inviting ride that also shells out plenty of power, the new Hyundai Genesis delivers on everything Maryland motorists are after. In terms of performance, the Genesis is positively uncompromising.
At 420 horsepower, the Genesis’ available V8 engine is a force to be reckoned with. Factor in the eight-speed SHIFTRONIC automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Intelligent Drive Mode, and you can bank on excellent handling. The HTRAC all-wheel drive system even manages to fuse the confident performance of a traditional AWD system with the sporty handling drivers love in a RWD configuration.
Of course, that stellar performance is even more attractive when paired with the Genesis’ signature sense of refinement. Four available interior colors are the perfect compliment to the model’s leather trim. Add in available matte-finish wood trim, sunshades, ventilated seats, and standard front seat heating, and it’s easy to see that an unparalleled ride is within your grasp.
To seize the power and luxury you deserve at a competitive price point, look no further than the Hyundai Genesis. Learn more or schedule a test drive today by calling our team at (301) 423-1100 or contacting Pohanka Hyundai online today!

Whether you’re looking to get your hands dirty with a bit of DIY work or just want a better understanding of what goes on when you bring your vehicle to the shop, the experts at our Maryland Hyundai dealer are here to help you understand what goes into changing your brake pads.
Almost all of today’s cars have disc brakes on the front wheels, which are responsible for the bulk of the vehicle’s stopping power. In the rear, your car may have disc brakes or drum brakes. Today, we’ll be looking at disc brakes as they are more common and typically easier to change.
Whenever you work on a vehicle, safety is key. If you raise the vehicle off the ground, be sure to support the weight with an appropriately positioned jack stand; never let the jack alone support the vehicle. Also we sure to wear eye protection, ear protection, and gloves, as necessary.
When we perform brake work at our Maryland Hyundai service center, the car must be raised so that the wheels can be removed. When changing brakes, always finish one side before beginning the other. In addition to helping prevent an overflow of brake fluid, this also leaves one side assembled that you can use as a reference if necessary.
After removing the wheel, the caliper that houses the brake assembly is moved out of the way by removing the caliper pins or bolts. You should not remove the brake line for this – this is unnecessary and can create a world of new problems.
With the caliper removed, you can access the brake pads. Change them out one at a time, making sure that the new retaining clips and pads match up with the old ones. As you install the clips and pads, a graphite-based lubricant should be applied lightly where the two meet.
Before replacing the caliper, the piston must be compressed. At Pohanka Hyundai, we have a specialized tool to ensure the piston retracts smoothly. At home, you can typically achieve a similar result by laying a piece of wood against the piston and pushing it back with a C clamp. Be sure to watch the fluid reservoir while you do this, as fluid will be pushed back up the line. If the canister is going to overflow, carefully remove some with a turkey baster or dropper.
Once you replace the caliper, you’re ready to repeat the process on the other side. After a brake job, it’s always important to take a slow, controlled test drive and to stop carefully until you have a good feel for the new brakes.
If you’re ready for new brakes but aren’t the DIY type, our service center is open seven days a week; no need for an appointment, just bring it in! To learn more, or if you prefer to schedule an appointment, be sure to contact us online or to call the Pohanka Hyundai team at (301) 423-1100 today.
